I like homes with soffit
corbels. This is definitely not a modern look which frankly is fine with me since modern is not my cup of tea. These kind soffits were a part of our past and still popular among many homeowners. Many of the old soffit corbels were built-up as the corbels pictured above. That is, they were made of bandsawn wooden layers (most interior corbels are hand-carved from solid wood (laminated stock). Polyurethane corbels are available for exterior applications that are a viable alternative to wood because of the rot and weather resistance of polyurethane.
