This is another rendering attempt of a mantel surround that I previously designed. I sketched this is Google Sketchup and rendered in iRender. It is in fact a wrap around mantel. The fireplace projects into the room and so wraps around the walls. Extra mantle shelf space means extra room for pictures and curios. Of course, shelving could be added to the sides to good and useful effect. Fluting could also be added to the pilasters as well as carved appliques in the center frieze area.
