You may not have considered this particular application for adding wooden corbels to your home but I think it is a good one. Most homeowners, I think, automatically think about using corbels as counter top supports. But have you considered using them as to augment an arched entry.  These flutted corbels have a small shelf added to their top to receive the casing. Also, if you look closely, you'll see the large golden lion's head corbels under the mantle shelf of the fireplace mantel surround.
